When I look at the threads on here I ain't forts a clue what half of it is about, but I would like to add a simple but effective efects box but don't want anything complicated. Must be simple, good quality and easy to use. What's out there ?

I would suggest a multieffects unit. That way you can try out different types of effects and learn what they do, and what you like.

I'd suggest a zoom b3.

For funk, the first type of effect I'd try is an envelope filter.

The B3 is packed with effects. The QTron model is pretty good. And you'll be able to try all the major effect types and find out what does it for you.
