The Hat
Who else, like me, loves Ian Dury and The Blockheads. As a beginner I'd love to find an easyish track for me to have a go at if anyone can give me any ideas for easier tracks
AustinArto
Only Rhythm Stick is really tricky, there's loads of easy bass parts in their other tunes. Inbetweenies? Mash It Up Harry?
The Hat
Cool. Other than YouTube is there anywhere to get the tab for the bass lines ? Wake up and make love to me is one of my favourites Edited February 9, 2016 by The Hat
Fueltank
Wake Up is a great song and a really nice bass line, I think. Great music from Mr. Dury and The Blockheads... there are a few tabs available on www.bigbasstabs.com/ though not very many. Cheers!
oldbass
Great band...very clever quirky writing and Rhythym Stick is a masterpiece of originality. Love em. Rhythm Stick is a bit tiring..trouble is it is the No1 Blockheads tune and if you want to play them u have to play it..took me a good few yrs to get it. Urban Bassman
Sex and Drugs and Rock n Roll is not too difficult either. I couldn't find a bass tab but get the guitar chords and take it from there.
TheGreek
The problem I have with The Blockheads is that the bassist isn't very good..

keefbaker
I remember when someone said, "how about we play hit me with your rhythm stick", and I hadn't heard it for years, so I said sure. I sat down to learn it and crapped my pants.

Japhet
Love 'em and miss Ian Dury loads. Would love to get some of their stuff in our set list but it's an uphill battle. Have a go at Clever Trevor or If I was with a Woman. 2 of my favorites
Highfox
I never get tired playing sweet gene vincent. Norm takes it easy on the recorded version but goes bonkers if you see them do it live. Good excuse for some rock n roll! The Hat
That's news to me pal, but then again I'm so far behind d the times. Either way I hope he pulls through !

Paul S
I've seen them a few times in recent years, last time at the Brooklyn Bowl at the O2 last year. That was their worst performance that I have seen, really off the boil. They didn't seem particularly tight - usually a huge strong point. They collectively mucked up one of the tunes quite badly, forgot the words, lost the plot enough for Norman to comment on it afterwards. They did, as always, still perform with attitude but I think Derek 'The Draw' seemed to be suffering from a particularly strong bout of Tourettes and his constant stream of invective just got tiring after a while. I hope that was a one-off.
Roger2611
What A Waste is not as difficult as it initially sounds and is fun to play, I can't get near Rhythm Stick though!
