do these need a speaker load to be used for with the headphone only ? I'm considering using it on my desk as a home practice amp.

Hi Lyle , yes you can use the E300 without a speaker load, headphone use only i have attched the user manual so you can confirm this yourself. 3/4 way down the page you will see using E300 without speakers !!! cheers Geo
