discreet Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 My views on these vegetable-slicers are well known, so I'm saying nothing. Quote
elephantgrey Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I like 6string basses, i think its usefull to have the extra range. But this is too far. It looks like it will be uncomfortable to play. Quote
PaulWarning Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 all I can say is, be thankful you're cack handed like me Quote
BassHertz Posted February 17, 2016 Author Posted February 17, 2016 Lol...a five string would be nice though. 8 string is a bit too far Quote
spectoremg Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Looks familiar. Are there a few noughts missing off the price? Quote
alyctes Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 I guess it makes sense to have it headless. The neck dive from eight tuners... m hm. Quote

cameltoe Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Who was the famous bassist who when asked about playing a 5-string, said something along the lines of 'you shouldn't play a 5-string until you've mastered a 4-string' how long does that take? 'About 30 years'. Just wondering how old you'd have to be to play this beast. Quote

Musashimonkey Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I've done my 20 years on a four string and am now really enjoying 6ers! Quote

TheGreek Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Something a bit less radical: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RMI-Quantum-P3-Fretless-Bass-New-release-with-leatherette-gig-bag-/141904374407?hash=item210a28ea87:g:D-EAAOSwFNZWwaBs Quote
colgraff Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I did about 10 years on four strings before moving to 5s. Does that make me 50% of a Billy Sheehan? That notwithstanding, his comment seems to imply that >4 string players are somehow defective / lesser players because they haven't bothered to learn how to use a four string properly. In my case this is undoubtedly true - I use a five string so I don't have to work too hard when a song is suddenly played in a different key. Why bother to learn how to change key on a four string to accommodate a singer's preference when I can just go down a string? Quote
