I think its a cool idea from fender but looks horrible, what do you think?

Yeah, thats why i hate it so much, the colours dont match at all.

I don't get it! So you brought a 60's Strat and found that underneath was an ultra rare Paisley finish but you thought...."now I can see that fine finish underneath a dodgy refinish, I won't bother getting the nasty refinish removed" not sure of the logic behind the guitar
