JimmySims
I went to see Kula Shaker a few nights ago at the Roundhouse in London. Alonza Bevan playing a lovely metalic blue jazz bass sounded ace. I wasn't a fan of theirs in the 90's but I have to say they have some beautiful songs and top grooves. I'd thoroughly recommend going to see them if you get the chance.
VTypeV4
I've loved Kula Shaker since the '90s and Alonza was one of the first bass players from whom I found inspiration. Top stuff then and still top stuff now.
TheGreek
I really enjoyed the first album, "K" - less keen on the second album. Good band.
seashell
Spooky. I was playing K in the car today. Hadn't listened to it in ages, mainly because my Ex poisoned my mind agianst them! I was just thinking what a bloody good album it was, despite what my Ex said
timmo
I loved them. I am going to get K out later. I think a lot of people who hated them was because of Crispian Mills mum, and just thought he was a privileged knob, I didn`t think there was a bad song on K personally. BrunoBass
Funny, I've been listening them a lot recently as I suggested my band do a cover of their version of Hush. I saw them live on the K tour, circa '96/'97 and I still rate it as one of the best gigs I've ever seen. They took the roof off. I remember Crispian Mills made some misguided and probably innocent comments that the music weeklies then got a hold of and blew up and that was them finished really, shame. sykilz
Glad you posted this, I liked the first two albums and assumed they'd disappeared after that, will check out the newer stuff..!!!!
Bigwan
I think they have a new album out. Saw a review of it somewhere the other day...

They had incredible energy as a live act; very few bands I've seen have matched them on that.

Wonky2
I used to play in a band that had a very similar vibe at the same time, they were very cool indeed but seemed to fizzle.... Gig were hard lugging a hammond and leslie cabinet round i can tell you
Mornats
I might just pop them on a Spotify playlist. Loved a couple of their songs from way back.
Doctor J
Great band. The first album was great but the second was utterly superb, best listened to as a complete piece, comfortably one of the most adventurous and accomplished from that era. Shame it died, commercially, though. The last one I heard from them was Strangefolk, with great basslines as usual. If there's something new out, I will seek it out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEnziTHv7so
Lord Sausage
We used to play Govinda in a covers band. Loved playing it but didn't really go down that well. Probably because everyone is racist up north!
EliasMooseblaster
It's probably safe to admit to liking them now, isn't it? I can remember getting a feeling that they were considered deeply uncool around the early 2000s, but I did enjoy those first two albums. MoonBassAlpha
That's a coincidence, I suggested to my mate a few weeks ago that we try Start All Over, and we met up and played it this weekend. There must be a Kula vibe going around!
RhysP
I had a great conversation with Crispian Mills after a gig in Cardiff once about the significance to him of playing in the city where his mother made her acting debut in 1959. This was post Kula Shaker when he had a great three piece band called The Jeevas.
