Cosmo Valdemar Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) It's a Roland bass with synth pickup. Made by Ibanez IIRC. Phil took out all the synth bits though. Edit: Already posted by Old Horse Murphy several hours ago 😊 Edited February 20, 2016 by Cosmo Valdemar Quote
Bassassin Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 If I recall correctly Roland synth basses & guitars were from Fujigen, like Ibanez, but weren't otherwise related. The Roland instruments seem to be variations Greco designs so there may have been some collaboration with Kanda Shokai, Greco's parent company. Jon. Quote

TrevorR Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016
Is that John Sykes on guitar as well?
Yes, from the farewell / Thunder and Lightning tour in 1893. Saw them on that tour and the Renegade tour in the summer of 81. On that tour Phil was playing an Ibanez Blazer bass with a mirror scratch plate. Quote

It was still just a P Bass copy with an ugly wrong way round headstock curve to me at the time... brain made/advancing age/memory going. Edited February 24, 2016 by TrevorR Quote

BrunoBass Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 BBC4 showed a 1981 episode of Top Of The Pops the other night. Thin Lizzy appeared, with Phil playing the Blazer. Quote
