wateroftyne Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Aren't they great? We need a Little Feat appreciation thread on BC. So here it is. Get involved. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dXxZNsg8ew Quote
Beedster Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I'm in, my main influence as long as I can remember. So many good tracks but Fatman in the Bathtub always a fave. Quote
colgraff Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I thought this was a follow-on to the little hands thread. Quote
Happy Jack Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Saw them 40 years ago. They were great. Saw them five years ago. They were dreadful. One day I'll get Dixie Chicken right. Quote
Mickeyboro Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 (edited) Saw them with Lowell, them Craig Fuller, then Shaun Murphy fronting. Fuller show was the best! (Helped by Bonnie Raitt guesting...) Edited February 20, 2016 by Mickeyboro Quote
lowlandtrees Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 i think that the Little Feat 'Sound' owed so much to the bass playing timing of Kenny Gradney. Lowell George,, I remember, commented this himself. Interesting what happened to the original bassist. Always loved them. That mix of rhythm and melody. There is a kinda hesitancy in the rhythm/bass. Lowell for me though.. Quote
TrevorR Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Great band. Did you know that Archive.com has a load of their shows for free legal download? Including the Electrif Lycanthrope shows... https://archive.org/details/LittleFeat?and[]=year%3A%221974%22 Quote
chris_b Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I've got most of the records. Used to play Willing in a band a few years ago. Love this one. . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o9ZfqtQyoCc Quote
casapete Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Saw them at Manchester Free Trade Hall, 1977 / 8? Grooved like a groovy thing..... Quote
Jazzneck Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I'm in, Seen a fair few times in their various guises. Do a few of their numbers on a good night with the right audience. But I like this too...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13xx0_Ss1g4 Quote
ped Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 LOVE them. I have 8 of their albums. First discovered them when I heard Gov't Mule covering 'On Your Way Down' Quote
chris_b Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I saw them with Craig Fuller and with Shaun Murphy. Even the bits that weren't great were better than most bands can achieve. Richie Hayward was the best rock drummer. . . . . ever. Quote
DiceSociety Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Great stuff. Ideal groove for those slightly hungover Sunday mornings. Like the way happy Jacks avatar seems to be in sync too! (Or perhaps I drunk more than I thought I had last night). Quote
JapanAxe Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 To my shame, Little Feat are a band I have thus far overlooked. Quote
Dan Dare Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I almost envy you, JapanAxe. Many treats in store. Quote
Paul S Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 I need to listen to more of them, I think. We were going to do this in one band but, in the end, decided that our backing vocals didn't come up to scratch... http://youtu.be/hFzG7vD_bZ4 Quote

Kirky Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Only heard them in passing really, but they're going to be my Spotify listening of choice on the bus this week. Quote
Japhet Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Great band. Country Soul Blues Rock with more than a hint of New Orleans Funk Boogie. Richie Hayward was a beast. Quote
EssentialTension Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016
Ken Gradney: bass (do not be deceived or take lightly this bit of musicianship that one describes simply as bass)
Quote
