jimijimmi Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Hi, I've had a look through the forums but can't see any topic on mutes, i apologise if I've missed one. I've tried different types of sponge and materials to get the 'mute' sound but never seem to get it right. theres a couple of mutes for sale online, does anyone have any knowledge of them? Preferred one maybe? of course i could use my palm to mute but I'm interested in adding a 'non fixed' mute. any help would be welcome . thanks ! Quote

Sponge pad under the string still works better for my needs. Quote

ped Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I have a fretwrap which is useful but of course it doesn't mute fretted notes so it's quite different from a mute you'd have on the bridge. I used one of these a while back http://www.bassmute...._mainframe.html Overkill but good fun Quote
jimijimmi Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 cheers guys id be interested to know what sponge is best? I've tried a couple but never been that satisfied. i might get the Gruvgear anyways Quote
EBS_freak Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Yellow sponges - you'll have to play with the thickness depending upon the density of the sponge and how much damping you want. Quote
jimijimmi Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 thanks ! i have used yellow before, two different ones, ill keep trying them out Quote
