jimijimmi
Hi, I've had a look through the forums but can't see any topic on mutes, i apologise if I've missed one. I've tried different types of sponge and materials to get the 'mute' sound but never seem to get it right. theres a couple of mutes for sale online, does anyone have any knowledge of them? Preferred one maybe? of course i could use my palm to mute but I'm interested in adding a 'non fixed' mute. any help would be welcome . thanks ! Sponge pad under the string still works better for my needs.

ped
I have a fretwrap which is useful but of course it doesn't mute fretted notes so it's quite different from a mute you'd have on the bridge. I used one of these a while back http://www.bassmute...._mainframe.html Overkill but good fun

EBS_freak
Yellow sponges - you'll have to play with the thickness depending upon the density of the sponge and how much damping you want.
