Didnt have any plans to sell this bass as i feel it's worth a lot more than it's price, but another has come up for sale that i'd really like to try. So this goes to fund that.
Here it is:

This is a Squier Silver Series Jazz bass, built in Japan.
It's played a fair few gigs with me, and been brilliant.
It's lightweight, and strung with flats it sits beautifully in the mix, rather than on top of it.
It does have some playing wear, and i've shown that as best i can in the photos.
I believe it is an early 90s model, but happy to be corrected on that.
These basses are highly regarded round these parts, and i totally agree.
Don't think there are many better at this pricepoint.
All trials welcomed.
I can courier the bass, but it will be at buyers expense and risk.
Thanks for looking.

Is this my old bass? Seem to remember something going on around the decal and a black plate on mine too. Sure it is. It's a really nice piece of kit if it is. Saying that if it's not it will be anyway!
Yes, it's worth far more than the asking price. Nice and light and sounds great. The guy I got it from bought it as a backup for his 64 Jazz. He said it was the closest in feel and sound he could find and would quite happily gig it as a first if needs be. Somebody's in for a treat. GLWTS.

Ive had a couple of questions via PM so i'll put the answers here:

A few have asked about the serial number. It is O015717 so this dates it '93 - '94.
Bassistclem - it is under the logo, but it's very faded. Don't have an explanation for that, it was like this when i got the bass.

It doesn't come with a gig bag. I have very good material for safe packaging though. Check my feedback if in doubt.

Not sure on the exact weight, i plan on weighing it when i get in from work, i'll amend the OP then.

I'll double check the nut width then too, but i think i remember it being 38mm yes.

I have also been asked about the routing under the scratchplate.... i'll look at this after work too.

Dunc, yeh this is your old bass. I did debate referencing your old post saying it was the closest thing that guy had played to his '64, but he didn't say it to me, so didn't feel i should. Glad you have chipped in with that info though :)

Ha! Thought I recognised it. It's a good example. I'm sure that under the plate there's no routing. Best have a look but I'm quite sure you could play it naked. :)

Ok i can confirm there is no routing under the scratchplate:

It has a 40mm neck when i measured. I was surprised at that, because it feels thinner. But i'm guessing because it isn't very thick, thats why it appears this way.

It is all original as far as i can tell. Again, i don't claim to be a Fender/Squier expert so i'll happily take someones advice on this.

I cant tell the weight for you yet as our bathroom scales are broken.
But im sure Dunc will agree, it's lightweight!!
I'll get a measurement as soon as i can

These are great basses, made in the Fuji-gen factory, where Fender Japan began. Allegedly they were intended to be well made instruments to win back some of the budget market for Fender.

I've had a Silver Series Jazz, which had the best sounding pickups I ever heard on a Jazz; due to being ceramic they are really bassy. Very well put together bass. Traded that and bought a Silver Series Precision from here last year, which is even better again. I can't fault it. It's light, resonant, good workmanship and it has the perfect neck width for me at 40mm. I did change the pickup in this and add a KiOgon wiring loom though, but this is a mod you'd make to many Fender basses.

I can't ever see myself selling it as it's worth far more than I'd ever get for it, unless these basses do a 'JV' and suddenly rocket up in value. Having said that, there have been a few ambitious souls on eBay trying to get north of £500 for a silver series.

I had one - Bryan now has it (still scruffy?) - and they are very good. I kind of wish I were in the market for a jazz bass as these are probably as good a Jazz bass as you can get without paying double this asking price.
