stingrayfan Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Despite a current roster of about 50 songs that I gig regularly, I always forget every bassline I know when anyone says "play something". Quote
The Funk Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Improvisation in E minor, ie. silly noodling. Quote

That's not usually on the "don't play these tunes" list in music shops Quote

However, if I'm noodling round checking my pedals and amp for soundcheck I tend to do the start of Anaesthesia (Pulling Teeth). Quote

An A - isn't that a song by Tenacious D? "Next song!". Quote
Oscar South Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 (edited) A piano arrangement of 'Yesterday' 2 hand tapped if I'm holding a bass, 'Day is Done' by Nick Drake if I'm holding a guitar. Seems to impress most people. 'Rappers Delight' bassline on either if I just can't be bothered. Edited September 21, 2008 by Oscar South Quote
ahpook Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 i don't have one ! although A is a cool angle... Quote

Can never remember anything that might sound remotely interesting to a non musician/bassist. Always end up playing something really simple. Quote

ZMech Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 The Pink Panther theme tune. Not musically impressive, but brings a smile to most peoples face (including mine). Quote
bnt Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I'm partial to Rush instrumentals, except when there are fiddly fills involved. Which basically rules out YYZ, then, but I find their more recent instrumentals more tasteful, anyway. Previous faves are Where's My Thing? and Leave That Thing Alone!, but these days I'm very into The Main Monkey Business. Quote
