Jazzneck
I've been following the basses for sale thread for the last week or so as I'm looking for yet another bass. One thing has hit me hard. The majority of basses offered for sale in that time are 5 Stringers. Wot's happnin'? Are 5 Stringers going out of favour? RhysP
I think it's probably that there are just a lot of five string basses out there, so more are coming up for sale.
Jazzneck
There's millions more 4 stringers out there and they are in a significant minority to those offered for sale at the moment. ....unless 5 string players form the majority of BC members, of course. sunburstjazz1967
Just moving them on for more new fivers I'd say.
mrtcat
Everyone is just following the "one in one out" policy and flogging their five string in order to buy one of the many that are for sale. It's snowballing!
AustinArto
Maybe it's easier to find a 4-string that you like.

(so many basses, so little time) 😀
ChunkyMunky
Suits me to the ground. I'm a 5'er guy exclusively. The ability to have that Low Eb, D or even Db or C at the ready is perfect for me.
ambient
Yawn 😊. This has been done to death, I'm sure I've seen similar threads at least twice in the last year. Maybe they're selling them to buy 6 string basses ?
Bobzilla
I struggled with a 5 when I had a lovely Warwick Streamer LX V. So I sold it - it was worth £600 and I didn't need that sitting in a bass that I couldn't play as it was intended. I am now getting a new 5 for £35 s/h off ebay so that I can try again with one, but not be bothered about how much money is tied up in it. colgraff
As a dedicated 5 stringer, I love all the ones for sale. It saves me looking at porn!

Having to wade through all those ads to get to real basses is a right pain

Cameronj279
I'm selling one of mine just because money has became too tight to really consider keeping it
SimonEdward
In that case - I'm bucking the trend! because I would like to try a 5 string (again). Years ago, I tried a Hohner B2V with a low 'B' and didn't really have the knowledge, experience or patience to look further than four-strings. But this time around, I'm looking at a high 'C' .. for melody/soloing. Just can't seem to get away from my comfort zone of that low 'E'
blue
When I started playing there were no 5 string basses. I never made the transition to a 5er. I'm an old school 4 string guy. Blue
