ged120 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Has anyone tried modifying a passive Dingwall bass to include an active unit such as a John East unit? I purchased it new not long ago but after having a J-retro in my Fender Jazz, i wondered if this may be an option to improve the already superb sound? Any thoughts? Cheers, Ged Quote
Muzz Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I've got an East U-Retro in my ABZ - it's a tightish fit, but it all goes in And yeah, it works a treat in a Dingwall... Quote
ead Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 I think there are a few threads on the Dingwall forum about preamps, might be worth a look. Quote
therealting Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I have a J-Retro in my Super J. It's fantastic. I do miss the passive tone control from the Deluxe though. Quote

Dood Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 I modified the pickup configurations instead and the results have been great on my AB1. I changed them again last week! Preamp is still the three band Glock' which I think will stay! Look up 'DV1' mod on the Dingwall Forum to find out what I'd been up to previously. Quote
