stuckinthepod
Popped in to my local shop to buy an amp and spied this on the wall. Never played many Yamaha’s and I primarily go for passive basses. That said, Loved the sound and the neck on this one so she came home with me. It’s got some awful, worn black coated strings on (Roto Nexus?) and is pretty bashed up but I really liked how it plays. Really like the 3 band EQ on it, should be good for making adjusts mid gig. Black Coffee
The Yamaha BB series are simply brilliant. I'm playing a 425x and can't fault it. Even if I dent the headstock against something I can't even get annoyed about it cuz they are so cheap. Played more expensive basses that didn't sound as good, and a year on from getting it I've not much interest in selling it. Enjoy.
Truckstop
Nice find! Matching headstock always looks good! How much did you pay for it?
stuckinthepod
Truckstop I paid £150 for it and it feels like a lot of bass for that money. Got a big chip out of it but I'm not bothered. I really like the tone Jimmy Bain had with Dio and this gets pretty damn close (I think he played an older BB1000).
Nice find! stuckinthepod
Black Coffee, I will enjoy it thanks. Gotta sort the action and strings out. String tension is really high and it's hurting to play with these old Rotos on!
The Yamaha BB series are simply brilliant.
never played one of these but looks quite nice though historically i've not quite got the look of these basses. i think i used those strings for a while but they were terribly rough and harsh on your fingers and the arse dropped out of them very quickly
