megallica Posted March 1, 2016 Posted March 1, 2016 (edited) Just arrived last week, an Ibanez Musician bass from 1987. Never tried the earlier Musician basses but have owned several Roadstar and Roadster basses. The body feels slightly smaller than my other Roadstars and the active pickups give a bit more boost to the signal. FlatEric Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Ooooo! You don't see many of those. Nice addition to your Ibanez family. Quote
Bassassin Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Oooh - MC2924? First generation of what's now the Soundgear body shape, I think. Eric's right - not very many of these around, looks gorgeous. Jon. Quote
cocco Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Lovely looking bass! I've never seen a transitional musician before. I have to say I prefer the old headstock. Congrats Quote
Bassassin Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 Catalogue piccys & specs from 1986. I want a natural one! J. Quote
Happy Jack Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I like the sound of Vibration Mode Analysis. Where can I get me some of that? Quote
megallica Posted March 2, 2016 Author Posted March 2, 2016 A fretless in that Amber finish would make me happy Quote

bjelkeman Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Oh, very nice. I have been looking for one like that for a while. Quote
discreet Posted May 8, 2016 Posted May 8, 2016 Fantastic basses. I wanted one in white and when, against all odds, one appeared - I was skint. Of course. Quote
gueland Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 (edited) Had one for a few years (black, bought new) until my house was broken into and it was stolen...unfortunately no house insurance at the time. 😢 Edited August 4, 2019 by gueland Quote
Krysbass Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 (edited) Been using an original Ibanez Musician case since the mid 80s - mostly for my Westone Thunder III, but also for my Ibanez SR600 for a while. So it's a versatile case, but also a frequent reminder that I never managed to bag an Ibanez Musician bass and so use the case for its true purpose.😶 Edited August 5, 2019 by Krysbass Quote

Highfox Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 Nice enjoy, I have had the fretless version for a while now and one bass I will be hanging onto, great build quality playability and sound. Quote
fleabag Posted August 7, 2019 Posted August 7, 2019 I wish i had kept my MC888 DS Bean bass. Funny looking thing, small body, small headstock but a beast of a tone. Mine was the DS ( darks stain ). Most i see these days, and there isnt many around, are mostly black Quote
Defo Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 I have a 1986 Musician, its beat up and stinking in mojo, you can see why they call them the Japanese Alembics, and also why Dave Swift snaps them up when they are sold. I'm not sure I could cope with it live to be honest as it's a bit overwhelming but if it's good enough for Sting and Adam Clayton then maybe I should give it a go. Quote
