Lord Sausage
You will have to forgive my ignorance. I just heard this on the radio. I thought it was from the 70's.It's modern! Never heard of em! Class! http://youtu.be/F6iXz7WQADE
mentalextra
Good stuff! Yeah, its the vocal style that gives it the 70s feel. Am I the only one that finds the current 'flowery/warbling' vocal's tiresome. And while I'm on the subject, Rihanna's 'work' single features Drake who appears to be singing a strange collection of notes that has nothing to do with her song;he must have recorded that piece before he heard the actual track? Old Man Riva
I love them. The track (new single) is funkier than their previous stuff, which also has that slightly retro feel without ever sounding derivative (that said, it can be fun playing 'spot the reference' with their music). They're really good players - the bassist plays/sounds a little like Chris Squire to my ears - and the 'D' and Corsicana Lemonade are both well worth a listen.. A couple of other things they've done.. (prev. single and a live instrumental - with a nod to Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac?) [/quote] It's a shame as one of the guitarists (non singer in the live clip) and drummer have left since the last album so not sure who they've been replaced by or how it will sound now. That single is ace, mind..
tom skool
There was a crackin gig of theirs at the 6 music festival on the i player recently. Not sure if its still available but well worth checking out.
Sammers
Wow, they've changed their sound a bit since last I came across them - I dig it! This was the first song i'd heard, must of been close to 2007/8... I think I was still in college! It's finally going out of fashion, thank God. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melisma
ubit
Thank heavens! I thought this was going to be a thread about you asking if it was ok to wear it !
Lw.
Thanks for highlighting these - been really enjoying the whole faux-70's thing recently but hadn't come across them. Kadavar & Horisont are two of my fave's at the mo. Been really wanting to do a similar style band recently but with female vox (like a heavier Jefferson Airplane) but I've already got two bands on the go & don't think I could manage another!
