goblin
Whilst I've been offloading stuff I don't want / need any more, this is the next one to suffer from the cull. It's a Peli (Pelican) 1750 rifle case, bought to get my bass to and from 'Murica in one piece. These are pretty much bomb proof; the military use them and it's IP67 rated, meaning it's dust proof can can be submersed for up to 30 minute before it leaks... But it needs to be over 57kg before it'll actually sink as its 100% buoyant and pressurised. Also crush proof, United Airlines didn't manage to break it and they dropped it off the plane! Only a bit of damage to the handle to show for that. It's got wheels, not too heavy and people really do avoid you when you're dragging it around a busy airport tongue emoticon Currently cut out for a Warwick Infinity with around 10mm each side, will need a new sheet of foam ideally. Good for small body basses (Warwick, precision, jazz deluxe etc). £150 takes it from Rochdale, postage possible at additional cost! Pics to follow Edited March 31, 2016 by goblin

roman_sub
Looks like the best hard-case ever!
andybassdoyle
I love this even though it's not something I really need. Out of interest whereabouts would you get new foam and go about cutting it to fit your bass? This is exactly the sort of project that would start with me, foam and a knife only for it to end with me on the floor, very angry and surrounded by lots of useless pieces of foam. therealting
Will a soft case like a Mono Vertigo fit inside?
goblin
Well like I said, United airlines dropped it off the plane with my beloved Infinity inside, no damage to the bass at all! It may sit close to the edges, but it's so strong that it won't compress inwards! Will a Mono Vertigo fit, definitely not I'm afraid. That's the main reason I'm selling up, on the last job I was on I met a bassist who flew his two basses out in a Mono double bag in a flightcase trunk sort of case. I've got a Harvest gig bag and a Warwick leather bag too, so similar concept, I've got a pair of Hiscoxs anyway and the flight case the Infinity came with, so this is a bit surplus! When I bought it I had to refoam it as well. There's a great website called efoam, then you choose your foam there, give them the exact measurements down to the mm, they'll laser cut the block so size, and then with a pen to mark out, and cut with a box cutter. Easy peasy. I cut mine in a rush about 20 minutes before I was due to pack the car to head for the airport, I could've done a better job!
goblin
Also as far as getting it to places is concerned, I reckon I can post it for around £20. Let's face it, it doesn't need boxing up or anything! Just wrap and post... I also drive up and down the country a lot for gigs and such, so there's potential to meet somewhere as well if it fits with the diary. Lots of options!
