Singlecuts
More than 5 strings
Solid colours other than black
Ramps
Bound and block boards
Big paddle headstocks like Foderas and Wals
That knob-shaped upper horn on Warwicks
Small bodies

I don't know if its the different camera angle or the colour scheme or even if its a slight redesign but I have to admit I'm liking that one a lot more than the one in the link I posted.

You can purchase the updated version for a mere $35,000...

Am I the only one here who thinks it looks like the colour scheme was based on a thickly iced Victoria sponge?

Silver hardware, most colours, but especially gold and that weird yellow burst thing, P Body shape, anything with less than 5 strings, singlecuts, SG body shape, fender style dull dot fret markers, metal pickguards, tort pickguards. Stingray pickguards (and others that look like a toilet seat).

tort scratch plates on anything but white
Headless basses
any manufacturer that doesn't do left-handed versions, with the same aesthetics, at the same price as right handed models, bastards

I'm fine with most things but...

Rickenbackers - Just foul looking things.
SGs - Ditto.

And less rationally, 4 over 1 and (much worse) 2 over 3 machine head configurations, which as a fivers only player is really starting to restrict my choice. I might have to look at relaxing the 4 over 1 bit, but 2 over 3 ain't happening... I'd have to buy the six string version instead if it came down to it.

Oh, and gold hardware... It's a bass, not a f*<king Christmas tree!

5 string Stingrays, I have one, I just wish it had the 4 string body.

Fancy tops, coffee tables, Rickenbackers.

All of the above can be improved with a Tort scratch plate, I would have a tort kitchen counter, and a tort dashboard in my car if I had a choice, but then I'd need a sunburst car and Olympic white kitchen cabinets.......

"They're the band the Beatles could have been!"

Surely that was ELO.......

Back to bass dislikes:-

Fanned fret basses
Almost anything vintage (with two or three exceptions)
Valve bass amps (sorry - slightly OT but they really annoy me)
Old valve bass amps
19 mm spacing 5 string basses
Bass models which make extraneous electronic noise and hum even when brand new
Green basses
Stacked pots that don't work properly (even when new)
Truss rods which are not readily accessible
Single cut basses (especially those which are presentation models - absolutely love the bass player concerned mind)

You're not alone - I know a bass player with a tort toaster!!!

Well, I appear to really like pretty much everything you lot hate, with the exception of buckeye burl (yuck) and Antigua burst (double yuck). So I think I'm going to keep my head down in this thread

My idea of hell. The worst Chigwell chav aspirational aesthetic I've ever seen. A bass for a greasy Russian oligarch. Or the son of a Saudi prince who lives in Dubai and owns a pet lion.

Cripes!! Not seen that before but I had the earlier model in mind on my post.

I could imagine one of these cropping up on Bargain Hunt or Antiques Road Show and a clever clogs pressing the black button on the top whereupon the top hinges open to reveal a drinks cabinet inside!! Definitely the Bentley walnut picnic table seat back of the bass world.

The finish colours are certainly reminiscent of the National Trust cafe coffee and walnut cake.

Yeah, I have a Sub 5, really want a Stingray 5, HATE the scratchplate!

Hate is a strong word. I don't hate anything much to do with basses.

But I wouldn't buy a bass that had any of the following:
More than 4 strings.
Tort pickguards
Single cut - especially those that end up looking like a cartoon whale trying to eat a ladder.
Grain woods - what's wrong with black or white?
Tort pickguards
Green basses
Red basses
Tort pickguards
Fanned frets
Most sunburst finishes
Tort pickguards.

I think that's it.

Oh, yes, tort pickguards.

Ooh, someone earlier said:

WOOD PICKUP COVERS

That's more or less it for me.

Oh no, wait:

SEE-THROUGH PICKGUARDS

and how about those horrible:

BLACK PLASTIC KNOBS

And don't even get me started on those fugly:

STINGRAY/SABRE CONTROL PLATES

Bleurch! Mind you, not as bad as those:

OVAL LAKLAND BRIDGES

Other than that I think most colour schemes and body shapes have a time and place.

Yes probably, sorry if there was... anyway I like to keep us all rehashing the same old sh*t, I'm starting another thread on The Beatles being overrated later.

Burst finishes, chrome hardware, jazz pickups on anything but a jazz, scratchplates, Spector rip offs, Warwick Streamers, people who endorse Warwick Streamers....

Didn't do this first time around but;

Single cuts
Fanned frets
LED's
Headless
Anything more than 4 strings
Sunburst of any kind (eurgh)
Blue or green basses
Ramps
Twin soapbar basses (purely visual thing)
Ibanez SR's (irrational but down to ubiquity)
Those weird headstock/nut hairband things
Coffee table-ness (Nice on Warwick's though)
Pointy or otherwise 'metal' basses
Musicman Bongo.

:)
