I'd argue the Ruts weren't a one hit wonder, they appeared on Top of the Pops with 3 different singles..
Babylons Burning was their highest chart position tho, Good old local lads from Southall :) and the first Punk Band I ever saw.
yep the Ruts had top 30 hits with something that I said (number 29) Staring at the Rude Boys (22), saw them at last years Strummer Festival how Segs Jennings playing all downstrokes with a pick on Babylons Burning is something I can only aspire too, no mug at finger style either

Video killed the radio star by The Buggles. If I remember correctly, they had a singing bass player with rather big glasses (Trevor something, I think) - I wonder what happened to him?

Trevor Horn...went on with Geoff Downes to join a version of YES, then on to be a producer for bands Like Frankie goes to Hollywood.
Geoff Downes formed Asia and later (now) came back to YES.

Along with the generally good OHWs above I also remember some truly hideous ones when I was in my formative years....

Save your love......Renee and Renata,
Welcome Home.....Peters and Lee
Birdy Song.....The Tweets
Terry Wogan (god love him).....Floral Dance
Grandma......The bloody St Winnies School Choir.

After that heres a couple of classic ones that I don't think have been mentioned yet:

I've got your number (written on the back of my hand)....the Jags
Dickie Davies Eyes........Half Man Half Biscuit

Buggles had two other top 40 hits in addition to 'radio star' though.

It Bites, "Calling All The Heroes". It got to #6 in the UK charts and was the only time this completely brilliant band got anywhere near the top 40.

The Witch Queen of New Orleans - Redbone
Living on the Ceiling - Blancmange

Though with 2 singles but only 1 album (?) Landscape
If covers count, Blancmange had a hit with ABBA's The Day Before You Came.

Thunderclap Newman had another top 50 hit with Accidents, IMO a bloody awful record but the Jazz (not the Bass) lovers on here might find it interesting

Grandma......The bloody St Winnies School Choir.

And of course Grandad by Clive Dunn, written by Herbie Flowers. Oh well, I guess we can forgive Herbie for one aberration :o

Lucky number - Lena Lovitch. Not my favourite, but love the quirkiness of it. Some great suggestions on this thread

Python Lee Jackson - wasn't that Rod Stewart in an earlier guise ?
Lene Lovitch's album with this on is very good. Great version of The Four Seasons song The night on it.

Loved Lena Lovich....didn't she do the original of another one hit wonder - I think we're alone now?
