TheGreek
I had the privilege of meeting George at the Enfield stand at the LBGS this weekend and what a gent he is. He and Nick Smith (our own Doctor of the Bass) were entertaining the crowds with some fine slap work. My memories of Shakatak from the 80s was that the keyboards dominated the songs with the 2 girls singing slightly out of tune. Meeting George inspired me to revisit their catalogue and I found some great live videos on YT with George doing some fine work on his Jaydee GA24. To hear some of his solo work go to 58.30 on the video below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK6HngUXrbk&ebc=ANyPxKrRdXSbmTPHtowwOOqjYq36yyF-1P9VH4bikSOsrr3Jj8WrmHOodAGFbAS5cPAVma-6oD4VMvNVuQ_iAxbzr-e9r1Qtvw
ezbass
I know one of the Shakatak singers well (she occasionally gets up and sings with my band) and George still uses that JD extensively.
FinnDave
I used to work in the same place as the keyboard player from Shakatak, Broadcasting House, early 80s. Was a decent chap, often popped in to talk bands with me.
Paul S
Why formerly with Shakatak - has he left? I've seen them half a dozen times in the last few years - a totally fabulous band.
