backwater
There was a 69 Gibson EB0 at Vintage and Rare guitars in London (which hadn't had the extra pickup fitted) and it sold for £1395 so I would imagine that yours would be a bit lower than that because of the modifications. They were always an acquired taste which is why very few people have played them! I had one and it was terrible! An extra pickup can only improve the sound. ian
i know it sounds funny but at the time he loved the feel of the bass but wanted a fender jazz sound so thats why it was fitted
BigRedX
The last couple of late 60s/early 70s EB0s I watched on eBay went for around the £700 mark for worn but original examples. The thing that everyone will want to see is where the neck becomes the head to make sure that it's structurally sound there. A repair at this point unless it's invisible and done by a well-known luthier will knock quite a bit off the value. As for the addition of the John Birch pickup, if you have documentary evidence that it was done by John Birch, i.e. a receipt for the work, then it may well negate the less in value due to the non-originality. ian
thanks and yes he does have a receipt for the pick up that validates the work was done by john birch
Stag
Looks like the mods were made to try and turn this into an EB3 - how very odd... I think you are looking at £600ish for this.
evilLordJuju
Why would anyone pay £1395 for an EB0?
No, that would have been the price V&R listed it at. If someone went in and offered them £1000, I suspect they would have sold it, and simply not changed the price on the website. If someone offered them £1395 they were probably too rich to care. Well, I love my EB0s, and I think £600 is about right for this, though a Slade fan (probably in the US) might pay a little more. (We all know Jim Lea, right) Just to compare - I bought an unbroken, unmodded, 9 out of 10 1962 EB0 for not much more earlier this year. And that was pre-global financial meltdown. What is a Birch mod worth? Edited October 17, 2008 by evilLordJuju
Lifer
I always think Andy Fraser when I see one of them

Some of these facts may be off - can anyone confirm. Slade are treated more seriously in the states (presumably because they can't detect Brum accents, and they never saw this ) Edited October 17, 2008 by evilLordJuju
