Bobthedog
Interesting but the Fodera Anthony Jackson Presentation II starts at USD 35,000 so 2nd place at best. Nice history though.
colgraff
Didn't Ritter make one for $250,000? I'm pretty certain of that but I'm too lazy to look it up.
Cato
Someone commissioned a gold & precious stone encrusted Ritter a while back that was offered for sale for $250,000 http://www.musicradar.com/news/bass/the-worlds-most-expensive-bass-167426

LukeFRC
I almost bought Jack Bruce's Warwick Hellborg rig when it was being sold - looking at the mark up his ownership seems to give maybe I should have!

Rich
I like the body wood/finish, but the rest of it is unnecessarily tart's-handbag and as a result the whole thing just looks tacky.
Cato
I know Ritter know what they are doing when it comes to guitar construction, but that top horn looks worryingly fragile to me.

Jebo1
Paul McCartney bought the double bass played on the classic Elvis tracks by Bill Black. Given what that bass means to the world, it would have been a serious bit of money. When Macca goes, his instruments will raise a king's ransom. I reckon they should all besought by a national museum (I've had this argument before that they are culturally more significant than most of the paintings we snap up for hundreds of millions of pounds every year).
