There's a few good ones out there. I've used a mixture of Abracadabra Bass, Team Strings, and Time Joggers. All good for younger beginners. The Yorke bass books are really good to move on to as the kids advance a bit on the instrument.

The Vamoosh Book 1 is really good for a beginner - might be aimed a little too young - but it works well for P4 / P5 beginners. All the information is nicely laid out and the backing tracks are great. A bit more in depth and age appropriate are the Essential Elements series. There's three of them - by the end of book 1 you'd be prepared for a Grade 1 Double Bass exam.
