Musicman Stingray 5 String - 2002 Pearl Blue - SOLD £850

Close to 30 years of hard rocking have taken their toll and now I'm one of the big jessies now looking for a lightweight bass.

It might also be because I've lost weight and the cushioning of my shoulder fat is no longer there so it's feeling a bit heavy now.

The third reason is that I've taken a strop at having to play a 5 string when I really want to play 4 so I'm in the middle of finding ways to make a 4 work in my current band.

4th reason is that with the hard rocking has come the onset of carpal tunnel and the pains associated with it so I'm going to take it easy.

Anyway, now to the bass:

This is a 2002 Stingray 5 meaning that it has the ceramic pickup like the Sterling. I've never ever got a good sound out of a Stingray (believe me, I've tried and have had about a dozen of them) but the ceramic pickups in these are fantastic.

2 things about this bass are that firstly if you want the ceramic pickup now, you have to buy a Sterling 5 which I don't think looks as good as this. Secondly, this is one of about a squillion colours that EBMM have discontinued

The bass is incredibly comfortable to play. The neck feels great and the 17.5mm string spacing is fantastic. Overall condition I would describe as 9/10 for an almost 14 year old bass

I didn't realise how difficult a colour this was to photograph until I looked at the pictures I took tonight and they all made the body look like it was finished in blue metal flake so right at the end are a couple I have taken from the web which show it better than I have been able to capture. It is a bit sparkly under lights but the flash in my camera has brought it right out.

Everything is fully working, including the truss rod and the bass will be supplied in a nearly new Hiscox case complete with keys still inside.

I think this is one of the nicest basses I've ever owned and will be sad to see it go

I am looking for £850 for a straight sale plus postage or would be interested in a light weight US made Sterling 4 string

Thanks. I had forgotten how good these basses were until I bought this one. That is why I need to get myself a Sterling 4 string, I don't think anything else will do now.

Completely forgot to mention that there is a very tiny mark on the back of the body. The reason i forgot all about it is because it is so small and is on the back and I don't often look at the back of my basses.

I think it's time for another camera. I've tried to mark where it is on the bass

I've also realised that this is the first time ever that I've had all of my basses for sale at the same time. I normally find the next big thing and sell the previous one but I don't have the next one yet. Guitarguitar are calling me tomorrow to let me know if there are any Sterlings in stock with the distributor. Part of me wants to save money and buy second hand and the other part of me wants shiny and new
