fleabag
Just nipped into the studios and popped down a few tracks for posterity ( and band Farcebook page ) We needed a live sound, because we cant live up to a polished sound at gigs, so instruments recorded live with a guide vocal and crooner did his vocal separately over the recorded tracks, but in the same live room so he got the same reflections , and whatnot All the bloopers are there, bum notes, speedy up tubbist, blah blah... just like normal http://www.soundclic...d=13342249&q=hi http://www.soundclic...d=13342250&q=hi Edited March 22, 2016 by fleabag
cheddatom
sounds like a tight band! I do think you could probably do better in terms of the mix but I'm not sure as the mp3 is quite low quality. Maybe you could put a higher quality file on soundcloud or something?
fleabag
Good point Tom - i guess the quality has suffered due to format change from WAV ( which the studio gave us ) to MP3 so i could load it to Soundclick, as they dont accept WAVs Maybe there's a better place to upload .. dropfile ? or is it dropbox ? The whole day was fairly cheap ..£150 quid for 8 hours including mix down, so the engineer wasn't going to spend too much time fussing over it. ras52
The band sounds better than the recording I'd recommend SoundCloud as the place for sharing uploads.
cheddatom
how did you convert to mp3? You should be going for 320kbps mp3s IMO
fleabag
Do you think dropfile / dropbox or whatever the damn name is, would affect the quality after upload ? Not really wanting to get a soundcloud account
fleabag
how did you convert to mp3? You should be going for 320kbps mp3s IMO
Soundclick doesn't allow mp3 files bigger than 10mb, so the broken dream track had to be changed ( audacity ) down to whatever it was ..i think 170 - 210 kbps Having said that, the other track was under 10mb, so maybe the format change to MP3 boll*xed that up ? cheddatom
ahh, not sure if there's a limit on soundcloud but I regularly put files on there at 320kpbs so it might be worth opening a soundcloud account?
fleabag
Tom, i've just found out that i have Google Drive, and uploaded the original studio WAVs , ( about 40 or 50mb each file ) but right clicking the file and selecting " get link " wont let me copy and paste it here. I get a silly pop up saying " only specific people can access this file " Dumb - surely as its my account, i'm the specific person that should have access ? Doesnt make sense

cheddatom
yeh, quite a big difference in the high frequencies It still sounds like the kit's a bit distorted... no point in me making any comments on the sound unless you can get hold of the stems from the engineer? fleabag
I think one of our guitarists has those so he can mess about in Logic 10, but its not something i can do, so i havent got those Tom PS Soundcloud has this annoying thing where you click on one link and it plays that and then proceeds to play all the others automatically, then goes back and starts again. I haven't found a way of stopping that so is there a setting that i can enable ? Edited March 23, 2016 by fleabag
