beerdragon Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I'm in a Covers band and i'm looking to replace my MIM precision pups with either Thumper or Vintage trad Hot rods, I have had Wizards fitted before and can't remember what they were!but i know they were excellent. any advice anyone. Thanks. Quote
Lozz196 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I had the equivalent of the Thumper and it was a good pickup, very 70s style so a bit scooped and aggressive sounding. Bought it to match my 78 Precision and it did it quite well. That said, the nicest pickups to my ears at the moment are the Fender Custom Shop ones that come in the US Standards, much fuller and traditional sounding that the rather edgy MIM ones. I bought one from Thomann for my MIM to match my US and it certainly changed the character of the bass, much warmer and fuller sounding now. Quote
