lemmywinks Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 Check out the macassar ebony top on the zoot in my profile pic. Looks nicer in person too! Quote
Shaggy Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 +1 on Cocobolo, rosewood (Brazilian "Rio" the finest), European/American walnut, wenge. Thuja is nice too, used it on my custom "Stingray" (pre-EB MM neck), looks lighter in the pic than it is because of flash. Used African blackwood for the fretless f/b, which is lovely but a phenomenally heavy wood! Quote

Jon Shuker is building me a singlecut with a striped ebony top - it looks like this at the moment. Edited September 26, 2008 by simon1964 Quote
StevieC Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008
Glossed dark rosewood is about the darkest. Looks almost black in certain light. Some cocobolo finishes are quite dark as well. Here's RetroRon's new rosewood KingBass from Stati.com & my cocobolo SII... Rich.
Oh Mannnnn, I just love that SII - I've dreamt of owning one since I first started playing in the eighties. Steve Quote

Everyone loves that bass If I had a tenner for every offer I'd had for it since buying it, I'd have a new car by now! Quote
