Far too many to list but I'll have a go..

Male: Michael Buble, Boy George, Tony Hadley, Teddy Pendagrass, Jim Morrison, Paul Weller, Maxi Priest, Freddy MacGregor, Gregory Isaacs, Green (Scritti Politti)

Female: Tracey Thorn, Kate Rusby, Sade, Randy Crawford, Aretha, Teena Marie, Alison Moyet, Eddy Reader, Yvonne Elliman, Crystal Gayle

It's unfortunate that artists become "Flavour of the month" - so many of those on my list, and also not, have exceeded their sell by date and probably unknown to many under 30s. "What ever happened to..." is a far too common phrase - 5 years ago I would definitely have included Katie Melua but she's virtually disappeared. Same with Melody Gardot...are we all too fickle??

Chaka Khan, Al Jarreau, Patti Austin, Luther Vandross,
Far too many to mention really.

Teddy Pendergrass had a stunning moving voice.

And he could dig in when needed. Brilliant.

Great singer, often overlooked.

Eddie Vedder, and Ann Wilson.
Guess I like the deeper voices!!!!
Although if I could choose any voice to have myself when I sing ( if that makes sense ), then it'd be Terrence Trent d'Arby.

Controversially, I have really got into Jessie J's voice. Some of her material isn't the best but her voice is utterly marvellous with phenomenal control and versatility. Seen her live a couple of times and she doesn't disappoint.

Ike Willis in his day back in 80s was sounding superb and very Nat King Cole like
For ballads n stuff Paul Carrack is great but also very underrated imho is Brian Kennedy

Female - Dusty, Aretha, Whitney, Emmylou Harris.
Male - Rod Stewart (early / mid career period for me), David Ruffin, Sam Cooke, Southside Johnny.
( And of course, these are subject to change depending on my mood.....)

Nothing controversial, Jessie J has a great voice. She's probably overlooked a lot.

Prog voices for me: Jon Anderson, John Wetton and Greg Lake. Quite like Peter Gabriel's too but it's failing lately. Sting can sing well... Tom Yorke has an interesting quality

Female I'd go Aretha when not doing awful pop, +1 Bjork, Kate Bush, Joni... Annie Lennox can sing but god she's annoying. Maddie Prior kills it and Maggie Riley too. +1 for Annie Haslam

For me, it was Jon Anderson all the way.

Got there as I was writing it!!!!!

Not necessarily the greatest technically but they can convey emotion, tell a story and sound utterly believable..

So Joni Mitchell singing Hejira, Roberta Flack singing The First Time Ever I Saw Your face, Karen Carpenter singing Goodbye to Love, Dusty Springfield singing Goin' Back, Aretha Franklin singing Until You Come Back to Me...

Jeff Buckley singing Last Goodbye, Curtis Mayfield singing Now You're Gone, Steve Marriott singing The Autumn Stone...

If I could sing like anyone, though, it'd be Rod...

Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Minnie Ripperton,Bobby Womack, Stevie Wonder, D'Angelo, Eryka Badu, James Brown and Bootsy Collins are some of my favourites. All have very unique and distinctive voices.

Richie Kotzen

Patricia Lynn Drew (she of an unknown band The Wind and The Wave) there's something about her voice that's just right for me.

And the singer from the last covers band I was in. Loved her voice.
