Morning all!

Quick question...

For my sins and as a favour I'm off trolleying round europe playing for a few weeks and need to get myself a decent hard case, I don't really want my Sandberg VM5 flying around the back of a van in the cheapo bags the come with... does anyone have any suggestions?

Chris.

I like Hiscox cases. I stood on mine with the bass inside to prove a point once - I weigh around 100kg +/- Probably a bit + as I am still wearing my winter coat :)

But for Fender shaped basses I actually prefer the SKB shaped case. The inside is fitted, so absolutely no jiggling about, and the latches are easier to operate.

I have both, either will do the job both good strong cases, SKB was a good price on Amazon when I got it, Hiscox is British built though ☺.

I have both a Hiscox and a Fender-branded SKB. The SKB has plenty room for strap, spare strings, jack lead etc, and all the catches are protected by plastic flanges. The Hiscox loses out on both those aspects.

Both cases are about as bomb-proof as a plastic case can be.
