Count Bassy Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016
I subscribed to She Shreds. Received a copy in January - great! Nothing since then. I'm beginning to wonder if they've gone out of business.
No, it's just that they've run out of female guitarists/bassists. Quote

I wouldn't even say Carol Kaye was much of a shaper - she was a session musician - but she certainly played on so many really huge hits from so many big artists in the 60s and 70s that she almost single-handedly introduced the signature sound of the pick-played Precision Bass to millions of people... even if they didn't know what it was at the time. seashell Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016
I wonder how it would go down if someone launched a magazine that advertised the fact that it was specifically dedicated to male musicians?
They have, it's called Kerrang! Quote
Phil Adams Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Carol Kaye for sure, seeing as she shaped a lot of it during her long career. Didn't she invent the bass guitar??? Quote

scrumpymike Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 +1 for Gail Ann Dorsey - her stuff with Bowie was brilliant! Quote
