LewisK1975
Agree with most of what's been said already, bad form from the landlord to just send an email for a same day cancellation, to me that should have definitely been an answered phone call / text message at the very least. And then to post on their facebook page that it was your fault, why? I can understand someone telling a porkie when being faced up by your mates who had turned up to see you, but why post the same lie on Facebook? I can only guess they had more than a few inquiries as to where the band were and so decided to try and publicly absolve themselves somehow. Can't believe for one minute though that they honestly thought you wouldn't find out about it...
Paul S
As a post script. It so happens one of our guitarists has previous contact with one of the MDs of Greene King at some company MD's jolly or other and sent him off an email. The brewery looked into it and everyone concerned has acknowledged that it was completely out of order. The policy should be that if a band is booked then it stays booked - that is how it is going to be in future. Apologies were tendered all round for the way it was dealt with on the night, an offer made of £50 towards our petrol plus guaranteed gig later in the year. If we want it, of course, which is currently being discussed.

[/quote] it's not much, but at least greene king bothered to get involved, shows there is at least some willing from them to support bands. PaulWarning
not ideal, but if it means staying in the good books of Greene King I'd take it

PaulWarning
turned up to a gig last night and the landlord said we'd have to stop playing when the boxing came on, so half way through the second set we had to stop so they could put the commentary through the pub pa, cue a chorus of boos and a few left, fortunately it only lasted 2 rounds so we were able to finish the set, if it had gone the distance that would have been it, we were a bit miffed to start with but at least he didn't cancel the gig
