Love the look of this TMB30 and it's less than £150! If the quality is as good as my similarly-priced Mikro it could be a winner.

Has anybody managed to try one? I'll be on the phone to PMT in Bristol tomorrow.

Tiny Talman! Fancied a shortie for a while, could well be that the only question is which colour!

Ivory gets my vote ("No elephants were harmed in the production of this bass guitar".)

Thanks neepheid, that's got me even more interested - could also be a sound bet for a future upgrade project although my preference would be for a slightly slimmer neck (it's 41mm at the nut). Rang PMT in Bristol yesterday. They want to clear their 'old' Ibanez basses before placing a stock order for the 2016 stuff but will get one in if I place an order (won't be doing that). Bugger!

Thomann have black ones in stock now, and you can always send it back if it's no good. And it's only £150. And you allude to the fact that you might modify it anyway.

Is it just me, or is there a touch of Hayman 4040 influence in the look of these?
[/quote]
Never seen or heard of the Hayman. Just found some images online and the basic body shape is certainly similar. Must say I prefer the look of the Ibanez, particularly the unusual headstock, the Hayman styling is pretty, errr, challenging - even for me, and I like quirky stuff.

The original Talman guitars from '94 are quite interesting. These hail from an era when manufacturers were experimenting more with non-standard materials like Luthite & Ebonol - back then Talmans (Talmen?) were made from something Ibanez referred to as "Resoncast" - which seems to all intents & purposes to be MDF!

Have to admit I like the Kent Armstrong lippys & Fotoflame top!

Has anyone managed to Track any of these down yet? or got confirmation that they're coming to Europe?

I asked in Guitarguitar on Saturday about the TMB605 an they phoned me back this morning to say that only theTM100 was available.

Did I really say black would be my last choice? Well, that's the only colour coming in to the UK (and all that's on offer from Thomann so far) so I've bought one anyway! My local guitar shop phoned me the yesterday to say theirs had arrived - tried it this morning and really liked it! I'll post some feedback and a pic or two over the weekend. As I sit here looking at it, the black finish is kinda growing on me...

OK, not managed to play it much since the 45-min try-out in the shop (through a nice 500W Ashdown rig) but absolutely definitely a keeper (just don't know how Ibanez do it for the price). I was looking for a bass that looks nice, is easy to wear and play, has decent quality at a reasonable price and potential for upgrading later. I think that's exactly what I've got with this baby. Very nice out of the box - fine for gig back-up as is - but can be even better with a bit of time/money spent on it to get it just right for me. Here's a couple of pic's.

...and a bit if info: mahogany body; maple neck with 9.5"-radius rosewood fretboard; 30" scale; 20 medium frets; weighs 3.3kg/7.25lbs; nice balance with top strap button at 12th fret. And I'm really starting to like the black finish btw!

This really is a no brainer. The neck pick up has some real hefty power while the bridge pick up actually contributes to tone balancing. All too often  bridge pick ups on some j/b guitars  are useless.  The  neck is surprisingly pleasant, swift and accurate out of the box. This is a serious instrument for student guitar money, Get one and smile!!
