Muppet
Can the observant ones amongst you name this guitar and it's bass counterpart? backwater
Looks like a Chris Shiflett Signature model which is based on a 1970s Telecaster deluxe : http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/guitars/telecaster/chris-shiflett-telecaster-deluxe-rosewood-fingerboard-arctic-white/ So the bass counterpart would be the Nate Mendel signature? http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/basses/precision-bass/nate-mendel-p-bass-rosewood-fingerboard-candy-apple-red/ I tried the Shiflett signature and liked it but couldn't justify it when I have a Les Paul and a 62 Telecaster Custom re-issue Andy
Muppet
That's the one! I didn't know anything about it and came across it when looking for a custom. It's quite un-tele like but very well made and sounds lovely. Mexican and comes with vintage style Fender hardcase, all for under £500 which I thought was a bargain. I was expecting the output to be hot but I don't really think it is, especially when I compare it to my other telecasters. Really don't know why Fender insist on sticking 9s on their guitars from new though.
BigRedX
Shouldn't Fender humbuckers have split pole-pieces (bottom 3 towards the neck and top 3 towards the bridge) or are these particular after-market models?
Muppet
yup for a regular tele deluxe you're right. These are specific to this guitar. To be honest they don't sound a lot different.
