bumnote Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 A friend is building a 51 type precision bass and is looking for a suitable neck. Without going to Warmoth can anyone give some suggestions where he might be able to get one? Thanks Quote
Dan Dare Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Allparts (expensive, though) or Mighty Mite. They come up on eBay sometimes. Know it's a faff, but importing from the US a lot cheaper. Best of luck. Quote
BassBod Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I recently used an Allparts Tele neck - excellent, give them a call 😎 Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Allparts are superb. Cheaper if you buy on Ebay rather than direct though. Quote
Rich Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 There's enough meat on a later P headstock to allow your mate's friendly neighbourhood Luther to reshape it? Worth bearing in mind as an alternative. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/tele-bass-headstock-template.773438/ Quote
Roger2611 Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Northwest Guitar Parts have had some nice P Bass maple boarded necks recently complete with screw head adjuster in the heel, I brought mine for £99.00 and it is as good as any of the genuine Fender necks I have. They are the normal bigger headstock type but a half decent local carpenter should be able to reshape it to suit Quote
Telebass Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Reshaping: remember that an accurate Telebass neck has a square butt, so a reshaped 57-style will leave a gap at the heel on an accurate 51RI body. Warmoth are also curved, neck and bodies, so will not be technically accurate. Quote
BassBod Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 When I looked about a few months ago, it was only the Allparts Tele neck which combined one piece/walnut stripe and square end. Other than that, it was custom made. Quote
