Isn't it hilarious when strings from the same pack are a different length ball end to silk

I have just put a set of La Bella 0760M (Jamerson ones, dontchyaknow) on a 35" scale bass. G,D,A and B are fine and dandy. E is 1.5cm short with the silk protruding over the nut. It goes to tension and all that, but I just wonder why the rest of the set are fine and this is not?

I just now never buy strings with silked ends

That sounds like a medium scale string got mixed in with a long scale set at the La Bella factory. Email them and they might send a replacement.

It turns out the set on a 35" scale feels like solid rods of steel so they are coming of in the next 10 minutes and going on a 33".

Not my day. I have just put a set of TI Powerbass strings on the same bass. I had been saving them for the right occasion. This was not it. Comedy short B string again. Cannot even slice silk off as the windings begin to taper before the nut.
