Moos3h Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Hi all, Returning back to the fold after a while on the dark side (drums!) I'm now wanting to get back into bass and need to sort myself a practise 'setup'. Requirements: 100% of it will be with headphones, playing along to audio from the PC (MP3 files and/or Spotify). I have a nice(ish) set of headphones, so I'm thinking just get some kind of interface or pedal. Any ideas? I know it's a bit vague but I'm a bit out of the loop so wanted to keep my options wide open! Cheers! James Quote
Rich Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Welcome back 👍 I use a Korg Pandora PX4B for all my headphone practice. Ok so it's a bit long in the tooth, but it does the job and has loads of amp sims and FX built in. Doesn't eat batteries either. Quote
Moos3h Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Rich - does that allow you to send the PC/iPod audio through it so you don't have to wear two sets of headphones (I know, I know...) Cheers! Quote
pineweasel Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Another Pandora PX4D user here. There is an aux in which you can plug your phone etc. into for playing along with songs. It's a great little unt for practising. It seems to have been superseded by the Pandora Mini. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Dave ellefson app . ? Can't remember name of it , as I haven't used it really ☺️ It's a g k setup . The g k app is good also Quote

jimbobothy Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) The Zoom looks pretty good, especially for the price. I used to have an EBS Microbass II that had headphones and Aux in (IIRC), however they are more expensive. It could also run on batteries so you could practise on the move lol! edpirie Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Phil Jones BigHead is another option. Very clean headphone amp and it's added feature is a decent USB interface in case you get to do some recording. Also charges from USB which is pretty neat. I had the Pandora and it's great, but the BigHead will improve you because there's no colouration to playing - what you play is what you hear. Quote
Moos3h Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Thanks folks - Zoom ordered, daft not to at £40! Quote
gary mac Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 You won't regret it, they are brilliant value and an excellent piece of kit. Quote
Horizontalste Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 If you decide to go down the laptop/interface route I highly recommend the Transcribe software. Quote
uncle psychosis Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 The £40 zoom is basically a cheaper version of the highly rated B3. Good work. Quote
