bubinga5
Just a short question. Just asking what you think of the Delano sound. i have a Delano Sonar 2 and a set of j5 Delano pickups? Edited April 5, 2016 by bubinga5
CamdenRob
I had a Marleaux Consat for a little while with Delano pups... sounded very clean and modern, bart like I would say. They seem to do a very diverse range though, so I don't really think they have a signature sound. Edited April 5, 2016 by CamdenRob
spyder
Very clean and hifi. Great for a modern sound 🔊.
keefbaker
I have 3 different Delanos in my Maruszczyk and they sound fantastic. Definitely the best picked sound I've heard from a bass.
geoffbyrne
When I got my TRB it had a Delano Sonar something-or-other in it. Lovely sound/tone but very low output - less than unity. It was replaced with the original TRB pre as I wanted to keep the bass original. G.

[/quote] My inner pedant is going mental right now, don't Sandberg use Glockenklang pre-amps? I've no experience with Delanos though, they always seem to be described as Hi-Fi which I don't like so much. I find the Hi-Fi sound to be too electronic sounding and much prefer a more natural sound. Maybe I just don't like active electronics but then again I'm getting a Sadowsky pre fitted to my Lull at the minute so go figure!
NancyJohnson
I don't own any, but I really like the visual impact of the big exposed pole:-pieces.
Dazed
Check out Armin Metz on you tube both his 6ers have delano pickups. Might give a vague idea of the tone.
pete.young
I have a Delano jmvc5fe set in my Bass Collection 465, along with a Nordstrand Preamp. To my ears, they are not particularly hi-fi sounding. Id say they are rich and warm , particularly the neck. They are also much higher output than the originals. Using just the blend control, I can go from a deep bassy sound at the neck to clean and sparkling at the bridge. They have totally transformed the bass and it now gives my BBNE2 a good run for its money in terms of tonal variation.
Muzz
I've had three or four basses which started out with Delanos and I've changed them out (or sold the bass) every time. Don't like them; they sound sterile to me.

I got a bit sidetracked at the mention of Sandberg and my answer was related to them! The same things get said about the Glock with it being hifi. I really like that it is simple, quiet and not too overpowering.
Ghosts Over Japan
I used to run Delano J/MM on my sandberg and I had a Humanbase Roxy 5 with the Delano Oval Humbucker, I cant ever see me using a different brand of pickups! Cant remember what pre-amp was in the Roxy though!
NickD
It was a Glock in the Roxy I believe! I love the range of tones from the Delano Xtender... my Elwood has Haussels, but I'd love an L5a with the Xtender.
tom1946
I have a Delano 'P' pickup in my Maruszczyk Jake bass, far better than the original. I didn't think it would work but I'm happy with the sound, it's very potent.
ead
I have only had a Sandberg VS (passive P type bass) with Delanos and wasn't that keen tbh. Lacked a bit of grunt for a Precision. Edited April 6, 2016 by ead
EmmettC
I have a Sandberg TM-5 and I'm not overly keen on the pickups (a jazz and a MM), they're ok, but I'm thinking about replacing them with Nordstrands if I can get a set that will fit. kevvo66
My mayones jabba got them fitted , very clean sound I like them for most sounds , but when I need real punch I reach for trusted G&l workhorse never lets me down
Roger2611
I had one in my Sterling Ray 34, along with a John East pre-amp, it was a huge improvement over the standard electronics but wasn't enough to make the bass a keeper in the end
AndyTravis
Limited experience, like mine so far (Sandberg TM5)
