Ghost_Bass Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Ahahah. If it can track a bass it's the solution for the "bass player that can't sing" syndrome! Quote
elephantgrey Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Its basically a formant filter with the settings set by the envelope isn't it? Quote

elephantgrey Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016
What ?
A formant filter applies vocal filtering to a signal. Like a vocoder/talkbox, but instead of a mic/tube changing the instruments sound it uses maths. Like the difference between a bandpass filter and a wah pedal. But with vowels instead of a single frequency. I think this pedal changes the settings on its filter (what 'words' your bass will say) based on your envelope. Quote
BigRedX Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 It's based on Yamaha's Vocaloid technology and it's a little bit more involved than just a formant filter. Quote
linear Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 I don't know how the pedal works, but the vocal synthesis software, of which Hatsune Miku is one of the voices, is sample based, I think. Sadly, the latency on the pedal version is so high it's virtually unplayable. Quote
RhysP Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 That Rob Chapman guy is a total f***ing bellend. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Funny review, but probably the most useless effect ever. Unless you're trying to amuse your 5 year old child Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 I much prefer Joe Gore's demo; http://youtu.be/aWKQXzKVXP0 Quote
fuzzonaut Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) I have one! It can track a bass, single notes, but not all the way down. The real fun is where the pedal struggles and glitches ... Edited April 6, 2016 by fuzzonaut Quote
