Hi,

I'm doing this the wrong way round not to mention shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted, however, I've just bought a second hand Warwick Corvette Standard 5 in ash with tweaked electonics and a gig bag for £580.00.

The bass sounds really great through my Ashdown rig. Just wondered what you guys thought in terms of how good a deal I've got?

Cheers

Sorry, mate. Not a fantastic deal. Not a complete rip-off either. Very good bass though - what are the tweaked electronics? Could make a difference to the value.

Mzungu - that's Swahili for "whitey". Interesting choice of name!

Mmm, you can get the passive version brand new (inc gigbag) for £530, Glock/Bart/Aggie 2band pre's for £70 ish. So I would say no to it being a bargain (esp current market trends). BUT, if it sounds & plays like a dream, then its a bargain to you.

It's expensive for a second hand corvette, but they are quality instrument, especially with upgraded electronics (I don't like MEC myself).

I think it's all right, but if you re-sell it, you will take a hit. What's the electronics in it?

As everyone else has said, it depends on the electronics. If it's got a decent pre in it and good pickups then it's a good amount of bass for the money. I remember shortly after i bought my corvette standard 4 (for £598 new) i saw the same bass on sale for £530, still thought i'd got a good deal though. What electronics are in it, and did you get the old ones with it? (you could sell those on).

Corvettes have always been a cracking bass for the money. There was a 5 on ebay recently that had an amazingly figured body and went for more than the usual. If you're happy with it then it's a good buy!

I picked up an SSII in a full Warwick aluminium flightcase last week for £700
