In truth, you don't actually need an American accent to do these videos.

Here's one I prepared earlier (August 2014):

And here's the extended version I did three months later:

Happy Jack....you obviously did not even look/listen to a second of the clip.... but were in like a light with one/two of your own. :P :D

Great clips Jack ! :)

The reason I posted, is that I think people don't pay enough attention to these things....often until it's too late and they end up having to pay for the advice by attending sessions with a physiotherapist.

Prevention is better than cure !!! ;)

Happy Jack's video has been super useful for me, use a selection for it before any lengthy practice/rehearsal/gig. No issues since, thank you Mr Jack.

The physio taught me stretches for my back, shoulders and neck. They hurt when i do them. I believe the technical medical term for my neck problem is "knackered".

I forgive Jack. The mullet would suggest an accent somewhere south of the Mason Dixon.

Good stuff Jack.Any chance the handout in your first video is online anywhere?I play EUB(Yamaha SLB200) mostly but also bass guitar and these exercises will help with both instruments, especially since the position and technique is very different from one to the other with each presenting its own problems. Thanks for the ideas.

This is the photo of the handout, from my blog of the event. WARNING - the image appears huge on here, no matter what setting I use to link to it. Apologies.

If the image below is too unwieldy, please refer to the blog itself - https://bassclef141....bass-bash-2014/ . The image, and the link to the video are near the beginning.

Thanks bluejay.I made some notes from the video but this is a nice tidy summary that's perfect for a quick reminder as I work through the exercises. So easy and it works-at least for me.

Great vids Happy Jack. I'm at the tail end of physiotherapy for poor posture combined with a heavy bass and fast playing.

I gave the exercises a once-overthis afternoon and have just done an hour of playing which seemed a little easier than usual. Will persevere with the technique.

And there's the core (pun intended) of it.

As I say in one of those presentations, if you do these exercises once then it's just "meh ... so what?". Do them routinely and regularly and the effect is cumulative.

The absolutely key thing, though, which is an instant win, is A-framing. Works immediately and works every time.

I have always been keen to physically look after myself both generally and especially while playing the bass. I have seen a lot of tips/advise on the internet, but have never come across the above excellent advice.

Thank you. :)
