Kevin Dean Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 At band rehearsal last night i was using the Super Compact & loved the sound , But I went for a walk about & I noticed that when I walked away & off of axis I couldn't hear the lovey zing of the rotosound strings I normally hear . I was about to order another Super Compact but would a Super Midget with the The tweeter & focused mid punch be a better option ? Quote
Musashimonkey Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Sounds like you do nee a tweeter if you're missing your zing. But I guess before you do, have tried tweaking your EQ settings to see if you can still get enough zing for your tastes without a tweeter? I know the super midget will still pair up well as its the same driver, and Alex has recommended this pairing before. Quote
Kevin Dean Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 I suppose I can always turn the tweeter off & it would be pretty close to two super compacts ? Quote
Musashimonkey Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Although if you always have it switched off you'll be loosing some lows from the reduced cab volume I would imagine. May be best to call or email Alex. Quote
Kevin Dean Posted April 6, 2016 Author Posted April 6, 2016 I think if you have it turned off it diverts the signal into the 12". Quote
Merton Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 (edited) What Musashimonkey means is that the Midget has a smaller cab than the SC so it lacks as much natural bottom end - so there's a trade off between getting the tweeter and losing a little bottom end. Edit - and hence if you turn the tweeter off there's less lows than the SC. Edited April 6, 2016 by Merton Quote
Musashimonkey Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Yes, and yes, thanks Merton, sorry for the confusion. 😊 Quote
Kevin Dean Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 I've gone for a second SC . thanks for all the advice . Quote
Lozz196 Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Good choice - doubling up on what you already like is generally best. Quote
