Moos3h
Bought a couple of cheapo basses recently that I knew would need work. One is an OLP, wiring was junk so in goes the stinger preamp and loom but turns out the pickup is a SD 'Basslines', result. The other arrived, a VM Jazz and that one turns out to have USA Fender Pickups and loom - score. Both have had their issues sorted and play and sound great. Happy cheapo bass week So, have you ever bought a bass hiding a (good) secret? It's nice to be pleasantly surprised rather than discovering bad news the minute you open the box! essexbasscat
Not a bass....... but I bought a Squier Affinity Tele from Waynepunkdude (late of this parish) for £70.00 and that came with a Seymour Duncan quarter pounder at the bridge with shielded electrics cavity. It took a lovely set up and now plays very nicely
GregBass
Another guitar - I bought a non-functional Gordon-Smith Gypsy SS/2 as a makeweight in a deal (valued at £150). The problem was solved by winding down a pickup that was fouling the string - and the pickups were Dimarzios.
