String Scale Length - Will they fit?

Hi all

Quick question!

I have been sent the wrong type of string by a dealer. I needed strings for a regular 34" Jazz bass but instead have received super long scale strings designed for 36" scale length.

Will these work for me, or is it worth returning them?

What make and model are the strings?

D'Addario XL nickels (EXL to be precise)

I've often cut normal scale strings down to fit my short scale mustang (which requires medium scale) with no problems if that helps.

If it's going to play with your mind though send them back

Just measure the length ball end to silk and see if it's going to fit. If not return them.

Thanks guys! I think I will just send em back. Don't want to cut them and potentially be unable to return them as a result.

I agree don't cut them, but you can see if they fit without cutting them.
