So - it finally happened. Ordered back in December after spending close to 2 years considering doing this.

The plan - sell 'most' of my basses and buy a butterfly.

I almost bought a yinyang 2nd hand - but when Fodera announced the classic series - in Fiesta Red - the time was right.

Fiesta Red with Tort guard and Rosewood neck is my dream combination. I almost bought a Fender CS Pino bass a few years ago but ended up with a Squire instead just to try it out. Loved it... and the game begins.

So - placed the order; and planned the cull.

1st to go was my 99 P bass.
2nd to go was my 97 NR jazz bass
3rd to go was my Thumb 5 string - and finally a '60's premier drum kit that was worth a few bob :-)

They told me that it would be delivered between Feb and April. A Long Wait.

Then - in on March 15th; the email I was waiting for. It was made. Could they send it to me please.

What followed was traumatic, drawn out and complicated. The bass landed in the UK on the 31st March and was stuck in customs for a week. But finally, today, she arrived. Incredible is all I can say. I have played some guitars in my time but this is something else. Just amazing. I have 2 other basses still but I am seriously considering selling them because I can't imagine ever playing anything else now. So - here's some pics. Wow... Very tempted by the sunburst version of this.

Glad it all arrived OK in the end :)
I was very close to buying the sunburst but in the end I figured - it's a Ferrari, it should be red!

I actually don't like it. But I admire the guts it takes to order and wait for something like this. Of course I'm happy you love it.

How come it was stuck in customs? I would of been panic stricken

Lovely looking bass. Glad it lives up to your expectations. How much did they sting you to get it in?
20% VAT + 3% import tax... but she's worth it.

It would look better reliced.
in 20 years or so I hope it does. :-) This bass is going to be played not pampered.

Ah I saw Anthony Wellington post this :).
Very cool, I wouldn't hesitate buying another Fodera if the money was there, my MGS was wonderful.
The Classic series are fantastic, and I just know they'll screw me over by releasing a Sonic Blue or Shoreline Gold colour in the future lol

Which are cool, but aren't quite there for me to say 'must have'. Their Olympic White was spot on, but am looking forward to seeing what other custom colours they go with.
How do you find the preamp?

This.
look on the Fodera website. It's around $4850 for the Monarch and $5850 for the Emperor I think.
pre-amp is awesome. The sound variety is incredible. Passive with the front pickup sounds really growly and warm. Active with the back pickup on split coil is super jazz. Back pickup active is totally music man. Everything on = just awesome. I'll record a demo. :-)

Wow. That's borderline affordable. Don't know if I could sacrifice my entire collection though - even though I'm sure it's more than worth it.

I've not seen many coloured Foderas, but that red is absolutely lovely. I would say enjoy, but that seems somewhat moot and superfluous.
