Varnishing a custom painted guitar body

Hi guys,

An artist friend has recently painted a guitar...



It was painted in acrylics - and is intended to be used... not as a display piece...

Does anyone have any specific recommendations on what type of varnish to use? - and/or any specific 'Dos and Don'ts'

'Do' take it to a pro! That's way too nice to risk. If you are in London W1, I think your nearest 'pro' is The Bass Gallery. A lovely 'wet look' glassy lacquer on that will look very cool I think!
