sbrag
Can anyone out there recommend a good not too expensive headset mic? The issue is that our drummer has a good, if not very loud singing voice and does some really nice bv on a couple of songs. The issue is he cant get a mic on a stand in the position he likes so bought a cheap maplins headset mic. This is fine at rehearsal but feeds back at gig volume and we can never hear him. He is thinking of upgrading but looking for suggestions of what to get. Cheers
EBS_freak
Sennheiser ME3 - a good mic without going into silly money. Drummers and vocals are always quite tough without outboard available. What you really want is the ability to gate his vocals when he isn't singing, and make sure you have a 31 band EQ to notch out any problematic frequencies. Digital desks are king. You may want to explore the gooseneck attachment approach too - http://www.sweetwate...inging-drummer/ - just make sure you go for a compact mic. Great thing is that you can mute it and swing it out of the way when not in use - minimises the risk of a panting drummer coming out of front of house. Hope this helps. Oopsdabassist
Our drummist went with this http://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Shure-SM35-TQG-Cardioid-Condenser-Headset-Microphone/1E0Q?origin=product-ads&utm_campaign=PLA+Shop+-+Shure&utm_medium=vertical_search&network=google&adgroup=2+-+Brand+Level+-+Shure&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=64826d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=84412766959&gclid=Cj0KEQjw6My4BRD4ssKGvYvB-YsBEiQAJYd77XQ0pv3q3XVq4ztPaPLwGDY8WbL0V_Y0ZNbkzpqNKFsaAnXA8P8HAQ For pretty much all the same reasons as yours, sounds pretty good to me. Ofc I have no idea what you call expensive
EBS_freak
The cost of the Countryman H6 generally scares people off!
bertbass
I use a Shure wh30 headset mic. More than happy with it.
fretmeister
I use a Line 6 wireless one. I got it for magic performances, but it's been very useful for tiny stages too when even an extra mic stand is a problem.
