dmccombe7
I have a Geddy Lee jazz. I am a Geddy fan since 76 but i bought it mainly because it was in a sale and compared to other Jazz basses it was the better bargain. It has a better neck than my previous Jazz basses from 80's and its my goto bass. It just suits me. Yes i have to admit i like the idea of Geddy signature on it but no-one sees it on the back of the headstock anyway so normally its only me that knows its a signature bass. Its one of my cheaper basses too so jst shows that price dorsn't really matter. Its what feels best to play. Dave
sunburstjazz1967
Only other bass players would know who these 'big name players'are and that's if the signature is legible. Ask your work mates who Geddy Lee is, Nate Mendel, Tony Franklin etc etc see what they say.
Machines
My Dad has a Fender Stevie Ray Vaughan Artist Stratocaster (about £1600) but he has never listened to any SRV. He just liked the way it looked and sounds.
karlfer
£1070 for a MIM? Blue
I think it's Mex, but haven't actually chased that up. Don't forget when us Brits get new gear here from the states/Mexico, there is 20% VAT, plus big shipping costs plus Import duty. Kevin Dean
I've got a Shuker JJB signature The reason I got it was because I saw JJs ,tried it & found out it was cheaper (at the time) than a Standard USA precision & a lot lot better quality , a really good working bass made for gigging . Machines
And also don't forget: MIM = Made in Mexico (by Mexicans in Ensenada) MIA = Made In America (by Mexicans 150 miles away from Ensenada). He doesn't like Eric Clapton, but bought the guitar because of it's looks, playability and tone... I am very proud of him!

bassbiscuits
I've got a Bernie Marsden PRS SE guitar, not because of him but because of all the budget models I tried, it had the spec I liked most. I like any signature guitars to be quite subtle tastefully different versions rather than OTT models that you'd only ever expect the player in question to be seen with. So the Jack Casady bass I like; the Steve Harris West Ham bass less so...
Chiliwailer
Exhibit D: D is for Dorsey (Gail Ann). Not a signature bass obviously, but it is synonymous with her and if Ernie Ball ever did such a thing....dream on.
Love it, nice job Can't wait to see pics of your Exhibit R... blue
OK, if you insist Skipping through the alphabet then to Exhibit R: Rickenbacker 4004LK I had to wait quite a while to get my hands on one of these and it was definitely worth it. Despite my initial claims that it would be a player, it doesn't gigged because it's just too damn lovely. Far too ostentatious for some and a thing of beauty for others. Either way, it's a lovely bass to play and come back to from time to time. The edition run I think was somewhere in the order of 60 and this one is slightly unusual in that it's not quite as heavily oiled as others. The wings are individually hand carved and no two are the same. There are also some pick-up placement variations and there are some with only two pick-up's instead of three. LiamPodmore
A prime example the opposite way is the ESP Ben Weinman signature. Flame top, See-Thru Black finish, Evertune bridge, all of which aren't available stock, and i believe they even did a run that had the facilities for built in wireless like he runs. That is how a sig should be done. Edited April 20, 2016 by LiamPodmore
Funnily enough, I was offered £2500 and then £3000 this morning by a guy who's chasing one and saw I had one. The very risky process doesn't add up for me though .... Paypal, live and work abroad etc. So luckily I don't have a painful decision to make because well, it's a killer bass but £3000 is £3000

Here's my Modulus Flea - just don't mention the star bangled banner
At one time, Kiwi had a Modulus Sonic Hammer -- which I believe was the bass on which the Flea model was based. It was an absolute monster. He brought it to my place once and we tried it at some considerable volume through my rig in the garage. If I recall correctly, a shelf fell off the wall.
