Would they not go up the truss rod channel?
The cabling could foul the operation of the truss rod I guess. I read in the past that lathes similar to those used in gun making (long drills as mentioned above) are used to make the channels for the cabling and LEDs.

Just wondering if anyone has had these fitted and what the results are like?
The results are very very good indeed!

Each to his own, but I've had several basses with them fitted (not by me I hasten to add) and I can't remember ever actually using them. I haven't gigged for a few years though so maybe things have changed in the meantime... Or maybe I just wasn't good enough to be doing the kind of gigs that would require them.

I would add that they were fitted to the side of the fretboard so that I could see them but the audience couldn't (which I've always thought was the main reason for having them at all - otherwise it's just bling IMHO). Also very expensive to fit and even more expensive to repair if they go wrong.

I've got SimS LEDs in my Sei - bloody awesome things, plus they add a crucial element of showbiz to proceedings, with the added advantage of giving this overweight 40-something bloke something to hide behind. :D

However, maybe the era of LEDs is coming to an end - I think fibre optics are the new coolest thing... http://www.noshadowsoptics.com

A mere £1280...probably explains why you don't see them very often..

Aye. Trouble is the battery covers up Stuarts art-work.

I have a Warwick Thumb that was fitted with front and side leds about 18 years ago. Can't see anything on the neck to indicate how it is done.
Never had any problems. I wonder though if the sides ones are leds or fibre optics.

If I shine a torch on the front marker the side one lights up, so I presume they are only fibre optics, which makes me now wonder about the pricing which says front and side leds.
I wonder if it too late to get on to trading standards over this.

Hmm, well Sims tell me they can install front and side LED's that can switch independently, so I don't see how that would work if it was all one connected system?
