pieterh
Hi there! Newbie here, I've been playing guitar since I was 12 and bass since I was 13, I'm now heading for 50! My day job is as a live sound technician/engineer at my local theatre in Södertälje, Sweden, just south of Stockholm. These days I think of myself as semi-professional as I do play quite a bit on the side in different situations, both on bass but these days mainly guitar. Last week I was guitarist in a band playing for a female vocal harmony group and tomorrow have a lunchtime gig with a friend of mine who is a fantastic singer. When I went off to drama school in the late 80s I sold one of my two basses, an Aria SB Black n Gold II and kept the Ibanez Musician fretless - at the time I was playing mostly fretless. Boy do I wish I'd kept the Aria now... These days if I get a bass gig I use my wife's Gibson Les Paul Money (double cut) bass. It's a great bass with a fantastic neck though the small body does make it slightly head heavy for my taste. I've just sent off a bill for my latest freelance job and it may just cover a used Stingray 5 if I'm lucky - I'm a Leo Fender fan and I have two Fenders (American Standard Strat and a MiM Classic 60s Telecaster) and my favourite guitar, a G&L ASAT Classic semi hollow, so a Music Man would complete the set! Looking forward to being here and learning some great stuff!
