jonnythenotes Posted April 19, 2016 Share Posted April 19, 2016 Collected a new Yamaha BB 1024x today due to desperately missing the 2024x that I sold last year. I am aware of the differences in build quality that the extra £1000 makes to the hand built 2024x models, but one thing I have noticed is that the machine heads are attached by 3 screws each on the 1024 as opposed to the 4 that hold the 2024 machine heads on. I presume this is to save a bit of cash on building the 1024, but are there any other reasons or effects the 3 screw construction may have.... Less strength, less resonance.... Just curiosity really, as the bass itself is every bit as good as I remember the 2024x being, but I have put my bass playing 'anorak' on, and feel the need to drag some of you far more knowledgable chaps in..... Delberthot Posted April 19, 2016 Share Posted April 19, 2016 I originally had Hipshot ultralites on my BB1025 and they only have 1 screw, which handily enough goes into the hole to the right hand side meaning no drilling required to fit them. I doubt it would make enough of a difference, if any, to be noticable The reason for the difference is that the BB425 and BB1025 are made in the same factory so will use the same parts.
